Meet Team Snapdragons
Laura
My name is Laura and I’m one of the founding directors of Snapdragons Plymouth CIC.
This project has been like a 3rd child for our family; a labour of love over many years now. I feel passionate about creating a beautiful, nourishing space where people from many different backgrounds can come together to create a home from home. I like to be busy, and have many different ‘hats’ – I’m an educator (Primary mainstream, Forest School, Home Education & Steiner education background), a union activist, a mum, a wife, an avid reader, a lover of music and crafts.
I enjoy spending time outside gardening, camping and just being in nature, especially celebrating the seasonal changes of the year. I’m proud of how far we’ve come with Snapdragons and the obstacles we have overcome. It’s been hard but well worth the journey and I love seeing the vision become reality. You’ll likely meet me at one of our events, facilitating one of the Plymouth Red Tent women’s groups and/or through Plymouth Woodcraft Folk.

Teresa
Hi, my name is Teresa. I am Laura's mum and Ronnie and Gwen's grandma. I love being outdoors and finding new things. I enjoy gardening, swimming, walking and knitting.
After having Laura I trained to become a Primary school teacher where I was able to share my love of sports and the outdoors. I am on the outdoor committee, children's committee, events committee and Plymouth Woodcraft Folk.
Julie
Hi, I'm Julie.
I am a keen crafter and I love to learn new skills. I often have several projects on the go at the same time. I've recently discovered the joy and health benefits of sea swimming.
I'm fascinated by historical traditions and seasonal celebrations of the area, and I've learnt to Morris Dance.
I volunteer at Snapdragons because I love helping to create safe, positive, empowering spaces where women of all ages can gather to share, learn, laugh and rest.
I'm proud to be a part of a project that helps to nurture a community of likeminded women and in doing so help to combat isolation and mental health issues.
I also love helping to host events, large and small, where people can enjoy all the Snapdragons' has to offer - be that a cosy storytelling evening and lantern walk, or a big summer fayre with stalls, games and workshops.
I am on the women's committee and events committee.

Hi, I'm Victoria,
I love spending time in nature, attending women's festivals, yoga, crafting and writing.
I volunteer for Snapdragons because I was seeking community and purpose and I found it nestled within snapdragons. I have made some beautiful connections and I love working to help others find the same.
I am on the Women's committee, holistic health committee, events committee and Woodcraft Folk
Sara
Hi my name is Sara,
Snapdragons volunteering means humbly being of service and co-creating the world we know is possible for future generations.
I am on the outdoor committee
GIA
Hello, my name is Gia,
I’ve been involved with the Snapdragons project from the beginning when it was but a germ of an idea in Laura’s mind in 2019! I have watched the project grow in strength and beauty as the community came together into its present form, and I know there is still so much more potential growth. I am a co-director and subcommittee member of the Holistic Health Hub planned for the site and want to offer the Friends of Snapdragons access to holistic health therapies including Homeopathy and Homeobotanics that I specialise in having trained in both. As an elder I am part of the Sage Sisters that meet regularly on site and when time allows I weave rugs when I can and like to sea swim through the year.
