community volunteer day
Today saw a switch to Sunday for a volunteer session. We were unsure what the weather would bring but it all worked out fine.
What a productive few hours on site! Lovely to see the flowers blooming in the flower beds now we've had some glorious rain - thank you clouds!
Today we created some new compost bays to help turn our so-called 'waste' on site into rich, nutrient-filled compost ready for our growing areas. Now the tomato harvest is coming to an end, we decided to cut back most of the plants and add them to the newly-created compost heaps.
We also went and collected some horse manure to use on site (Thanks for the connection Tess, and for the Crown Prince Squash!)
We have more volunteer days coming up over October - please check out the website to find out more information. As always, we're grateful for the support of our volunteers and supporters - we couldn't do it without you!
Just look at this tomato harvest!
