All systems are go! As of 24th January 2018, Snapdragons Plymouth CIC exists!
It has all been quite the whirlwind, applying for the lease and setting up a Community Interest Company, all over the Christmas period and with Laura reaching the end of maternity leave. But it is so worth it to know that this is really happening.
For now, the Friday morning sessions are on pause, while we put all our energy into getting the new venue sorted. This, our first blog post, will give you some updates…
We need to apply for planning permission for change of use. Once this is done we can really start moving on the lease paperwork. We have to change from sports/leisure to community/education and complete a full planning application which will cost around £460!
Once the planning permission is granted (fingers crossed everyone!) we can instruct the PCC legal team to draw up the lease paperwork. This will take around a month we believe and then we can get the keys and get in!
Gia has been chatting with someone who is creating a logo for Snapdragons which will then be used on all our media.
We have sent off our application form for a Cooperative Bank Account, starting as we mean to go on using fair-trade/ethical suppliers wherever possible.
We will be setting up a Crowdfunded as soon as we get our bank account details so please watch this space so you are able to share the info as soon as it goes live. If we can raise certain percentages of our target we can access match funding from various sources which will really help get things moving quicker.
We will be on the look out for help from local businesses (not all voluntary!) so please do get in touch if you are able to help with the following: electrics, internet and phone, roofing, solar panels, water butts, wood burning stoves and being connected to a back boiler, composting, gardening, orchards, allotments, bee keeping, painting, building, ceilings, plastering, rendering, plumbing, kitchen fitting, carpentry etc
and that’s all we have time for just now as the littlest one is awake! Thank you for all your well wishes and encouragement – they keep us going!
