This summer our Friday Foxes and Wednesday Swifts enjoyed a full day of Woodcraft Folk fun together at Snapdragons — running from 11am right through to 8pm!
Despite the rain in the morning, the children were full of energy and started off by playing some of their favourite games, including the ever-popular sticky aliens. Laughter, muddy boots, and a little drizzle set the tone for a day filled with fun.
After warming up with games, we gathered together for lunch — a chance to refuel, chat, and get ready for the big afternoon challenge: our wide game, inspired by the exciting activities from Camp 100.
The children were split into three teams:
☀️ The Yellow Suns
🌳 The Green Trees
🌌 The Blue Skies
Working together, they joined leaders at different activity stations across the site to complete fun tasks and earn puzzle pieces. These challenges included:
Blindfolded LEGO building
Making friendship bracelets
Fire safety skills
Learning the Camp 100 secret handshake
Water-gun target practice (with plenty of very soggy children afterwards!)
Identifying trees and birds …and much more!
The puzzle pieces slowly came together as each group used teamwork and creativity to succeed.
After a full afternoon of activity, we shared a hearty dinner together. The children joined in with the clean-up, showing great teamwork.
They then spent some time playing Kubb and Jenga.
As dusk fell, we gathered around the fire for a magical evening. We listened to the story of the Fire Fox, sang songs, and roasted marshmallows and apples. Sticky fingers and chocolatey smiles spread as we made s’mores together — the perfect ending to a fun filled day
.
From rainy morning games to cosy fireside stories, it was a fantastic day filled with laughter, friendship, and learning.
